As you go shopping for a garbage bin, one thing you won't fail to notice is the disparity in prices between various garbage bins in the market. There are times when you find two garbage bins which look similar in almost all material ways, on sale in the same store, yet one costs substantially more (or less) than the other. We venture to look at some of the major reasons behind these price differences. It is at this point where it emerges that the price of any garbage bin is determined by among other factors:
1. The material out of which it is made: it is unrealistic, for instance, to expect a garbage bin made out of plastic to cost the same as a garbage bin made out of metal. This is not to say that the metallic garbage bin is better than the plastic garbage bin on all counts but there are many people who believe that there are many ways in which the metallic bin may be better than plastic, hence their willingness to pay more for metal. And then again, even among the plastic or metallic bins, you still tend to see disparities in pricing on account of the different types (and qualities) of plastic and metal used.
2. The capacity of the garbage bin: all the other factors held constant, it will be unrealistic to expect a huge garbage bin to cost the same as a small garbage bin. The bigger bins, naturally, tend to cost substantially more than the smaller bins. But when you start thinking in terms of price per volume-unit, you tend to realize that the bigger garbage bins are actually much cheaper than the smaller garbage bins. And then again, you come to notice that when other factors are brought into consideration, capacity stops being a very major influencer of prices. For instance, it is very easy to find a very huge garbage bin costing much less than a substantially smaller bin with the disparity being explained by the difference in materials out of which the bins are made.
3. The features on the garbage bin: there are times when you find two bins, made out of the same material and of roughly the same capacity but with a huge price difference between them. When this happens to be the case, the disparity will usually be explained by the features on the respective bins. There are bins which are designed with special features which enhance their aesthetic appeal, the convenience associated with their use, the utility obtainable from them and so on. To gain access to the bins with these special features, end users are typically required to pay extra (which many people show willingness to do, provided they can see the extra value they stand to get through the said special features').
4. The garbage bin's maker profile: moving on, we encounter situations where two given bins may be made from the same material, are exactly of the same capacity, and come with exactly the same features yet their prices are different. When this happens to be the case, the disparity can more often than not be explained by maker profile.' Simply put, there are certain garbage bin makers whose brands have come to be trusted in the market, and who all things held constant can afford to ask for a premium price for their garbage bins and still get people to pay it.
