Home Woodwork Projects You Can Do
Home Woodwork Projects You Can Do

One of my favorite pastimesis home woodwork projects. The feel of good wood, the solid feel of a nail as it is drivenin, the beautiful surface after sanding and staining...these things make this hobby worthwhile. That is not counting the respect from my buds for the solid wood furniture and the manlyman cave with my handmade futon and handmade rocking chair. Yeah...it's like that.

All this stuff was inexpensive, too. It's the work of my hands after all. It is also certainly "green" enough, being made from trees, which grow back and having actually once BEEN green, too. My handmade stuff is not flimsy and it was made here in the U.S.A.

I don't mind sharing. I will give you a link shortlythat will enable you to make anyof over 16,000 woodprojects from furniture to guitars to wooden toys to dog houses or additions to your house. The project instructions include exploded diagrams, step by step instructions, materials lists (so you get just what you need), and recommended tools. This way anyone can make wooden projects as thoughthey have been doing it for years.

Before you start, and I am certain you have this already, make sure you have a good workshopthat shields noises from neighbors, gives you room to move around your projects, is well ventilated so things set and dry quickly, and is well enough lit so you don't work in the shadows. Make sure it is wired to handle all the amperage your tools will needbecause some, like table sawsreally pull some serious juice.

Also, resolveto take your time. Enjoy the process. Measure several timesrepeatedly before you cut the wood once(I know the adage is twice, but just saying...). If you take your time and think each time before you make a permanent change in the wood, you will save yourself some aggravation(experience talking).

This can easily and quickly grow from a pastime into a business. For instance, if you make a prettydoghouse, your friendsmight want one, too. If you make a glider for your man cave, your spousemay want a cat climbing tree built or a new chair of her own. It tends to go with the territory. You do a few jobs as a handyman and you are in demand. It happens.

I will be looking forward to hearing more about your home woodwork projects/a> so keep me up to date by putting comments on my page at that link or this one/a>.
