subject: What I have learnt during my first year of blogging [print this page]

It has been a year today since I first created this Blog and I have learned an awful amount during my first year of Blogging and wanted to share it with you. When I first started it I was rather naive and didnt have a clear plan of what I actually wanted out of it. But things change and we become much wiser of our goals through our Blog. You see a Blog if you had to describe it would be an online diary of your thoughts, fears, plans and achievements. However this is a mainstream consideration and with an internet marketing Blog it has to be tailored to suit the Blog owner. It should be your dream place of showing off your talents and is a perfect place for releasing your products to your Blog readers. The biggest mistake that I personally made with my Blog is that I didnt place a subscribe form on it until it had been live for about 60 days and this meant that any early visitors wouldnt have been turned into repeat visitors which is a real shame. It was after the same amount of time that I also noticed that my RSS feed wasnt working. The important thing with a Blog from an internet marketers point of view is that it is there to make you money online whether it is directly achieved or not. Yes you could be sat there thinking my Blog is a waste of time as the adsense on it is only earning me $10 a week but your Blog income goes a lot further than that. For example you could sell advertising space on it via a couple of 125 square adverts. Alternatively you can publish your own banners to your own products. Reviews can also work very well too - if you find a product that is well known and get your review from your Blog on the first page you have a fantastic little income stream. You can also have a bad review for a poor product that didnt work for you and then at the end point them at a product that does work. I also find that using the subdomains of your Blog for mini products can be very successful on your Blog. You can set up an affiliate program for them and then when the traffic comes in many will be so curious that they will visit the main domain for more information. The biggest thing I have learned during my first year of Blogging is that your Blog is your mini articles that get you a great position on Google and its your entry into your online business. Take your Blog seriously and put great effort into it and then further down the road you will be able to look back at the wonderful reputation you have built. Once you have grown your Blog and a year has passed keep growing it and stick with what works. I am now going to toast my first year of Blogging.
