What do you think when you hear this cities name, Las Vegas Nevada? Excitement, fun and gambling among other things no doubt. Unless you have had an experience with Clark County and their family court system, Las Vegas might seem like a really cool place. I am writing just to tell you my experience, I'm not a writer or a blogger. I am a single Mom of two great kids. I have lived my life around my kids' for 16 years, they come first for me.
After the end of rocky nine year marriage to my second child's father, I thought things would finally calm down. So far he's been allowed to take me to court with false claims of neglect three times since our divorce in 2005. Each time he has spent thousands, wasted time and put our kids through hell. I say our kids because my daughter who he no longer speaks to, only knew him as her father. He's destroyed his relationship with her despite my pleas for him to stop his abusive behavior.
He assaulted me in my home a year ago this April, and he got away with it. The police told me I did not need to file a report, they would take care of it. I finally found out they never did file the report. When I went to file it myself, I was sent all over the city being told something different each time The Prosecuting attorney never called me or my witnesses, they didn't even pull the 911 call even though, I had the special ID number obtained by myself to look it up and get the audio. I just wanted a Judge to hear this man I was married to for nine years telling me to "hit me in the face bitch, draw blood". It was obvious he was trying to provoke me into hitting him so he could play the victim like all good abusive husbands are taught. Maybe you don't think they are taught, I know better. These type of men delight in sharing their abusive ways with each other, they have websites dedicated to bringing a woman down.
I'm not going to go into the abuse that occurred during our marriage, or his drinking problem, those are some more obvious no brainer's. But I will tell you that the Family Law in Las Vegas doesn't care how good of a person or a parent you are. They only care who has more money. My Ex has managed to run me into financial ruin and bankruptcy thanks to Clark County. They let him get away with body checking all 5ft 3 inches 125lbs of me into a large wooden T.V. Cupboard, before I could mange to run to the phone. This happened in front of my children, they never got to testify. This man is 6ft tall easily 190lbs of muscle.
How is it you can assault your ex-wife and get away with it? How can you be repeatedly disparaged in court after trying to protect yourself from your abusive ex-husband? By being allowed to continue this the courts reaffirm his already bloated ego and sense of entitlement. Why is it all those stories you read about how Ex-husbands go after their Ex-wives, never make an impression on the courts until she ends up dead?
