The difference in various pharmaceutical containers

Each and every one of us buys medicine on a constant basis. In each home we can find pain relief pills, fever reducing pills and so on. Many of them are stored in various pharmaceutical containers. Those containers differ one from another by their shape, their design and various other patents. Why manufacturers invest in pharmaceutical containers?

The pharmaceutical packaging industry is closely related to the Medical industry, Therefore needs to meet iso standarts.

One of the differences between pharmaceutical containers is the functionality. Different medicine is intended for different purposes. This should affect the containers design. For example the medicine can be liquid, so the container should be sealed. Another example is containers with child resistant mechanism.

Yet another difference is based on marketing points of view. Pharmaceutical companies compete one with another therefore a container's apprearance is used to attract the customers to buy this specific medicine. Some companies use unique shapes for their containers and this shape is protected by trademark laws.

Another difference is for ergonomics purpose. A pastic bottle manfacturer who work on pharmaceutical containers design must concern the ergonomics issue. People would buy a container which is easy to use and store. Containers for headache pills should be the right size to fit in a women's purse for example. Containers should also be easy to hold, and have a surface which will not slide easily. All those should be taken in the concern.

The pharmaceutical container's self cost is important too. In order to succeed the companies should sell affordable medicine. Pharmaceutical container which has a complex design, built from expensive materials and have a complex shape would be much more expensive to produce, than the simple ones. This cost would be implemented in the medicine price and would make this medicine expensive.

Another difference is based on different regulations for different medicine. There are several regulations the pharmaceutical companies should fulfill in order to get a permit to sell the medicine. Some of the regulations deal with the pharmaceutical containers as well.

There are many aspects which should be considered when the manufacturer decides how his pharmaceutical container would look like. Like in many other fields the container designers can't achieve all the parameters. So the most difficult thing in their job is to decide which parameters deserve an extra attention. At the end you can see that for similar medicine manufacturers use similar containers, which differs mostly with the labels designs.
