Sometimes after we have been cut by a relationship breakup we put our guard up. We have been hurt and wounded so we need to protect ourselves from further pain. It is a common emotion for people to experience and it almost always provides the same result. We protect ourselves from life for a while, but we ultimately cut ourselves off from life at times.
The need for a protection after being hurt is understandable. Especially when it is a first love there is a need for calmness and tranquility. It restores your balance until there is enough of you left to make you whole again. There is no easy way to achieve this though and sometimes getting over someone involves more pain before things get better.
There always comes the time however, when you need to rip off the band aid and once again open yourself up to life. If you do not embrace yourself back into life and let someone else in, you will wind up being lonely, old and bitter. This is something none of us want, and we need to delve back into the unknown in order to fully get back on the road to recovery.
At first it is almost as though there is no light at the end of the tunnel. There is no way out of the predicament you are in. But with time your wound heals, there are certain ways in which you can make your life easier and get yourself back to the way you were. Work on yourself first and mend yourself back to normality. This can be done by focusing on the things in your life that are good and important. Work and social life are possible solutions. Taking up a hobby is another way.
Once you have channeled your energy into something and worked your way back to normality, it is time to rip off the band aid. It is time that you met someone else. It is important you don't do this too early as while your wound is still fresh, further pain will cause twice as much trauma.
When you are ready though you will have healed better than ever, and can deal with the next experience in a much better way. There is no easy way to get back on that bike, but you have to just pluck up the courage to give it a go and go for it.
