Open for contention is which competing account is the true one and, if more than one is accepted as true, which one is truest?
Articles of spirituality and faith are not the only objects of contestation, enduring concern, and fascination. Although those interested would hardly blanch, outsiders may be surprised by the great care taken in religious circles to sort out topics of fashion. That's because religious adornment is deeply meaningful. Head coverings, dresses, draping cloths, and precious jewelry and decoration for the body and shrines all serve to convey a specific meaning to the observer. Moreover, wardrobe choices have great bearing for the rituals in which they're used.
Perhaps you've heard of the Brown Scapular, it's short for Scapular of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Both terms refer to the habit of the Carmelite Order.
