The city of Willemstad has a lot of colonial archetecture which is all dutch styles and because of its beautiful and old buildings it has been made a UNESCO world heritage site.
One of the most historic buildings in Willemstad is the Snoga Synagogue was built by Sephardic Portuguese Jews from Amsterdam and Recife in Brazil, the Synagogue is the oldest one in the Western Hemisphere and it is a copy of the Esnoga Amsterdam Synagogue it was built in 1692 by Mikve Isreal-Emanuel, the building is a beautiful yellow colour and the inside is just a beautifully built as the outside with pillars lining the aisle and impressive light fittings which greet you at the end of the aisle.
There are several ports on the island of Curacao and the largest one which houses most of the shipping facilities is the Port of Willemstad, the entrance to the port is St Anna Bay and many cruise ships dock at the bay so it makes the port very busy and brings a lot of tourism into the Capital, the Schottegat area in the port has the regions largest oil refinery a dry dock an Economic Zone area, a state of the art container terminal and Cargo Wharves.
