DTEA Senior Secondary School, R K Puram is the 6th among seven sister schools. Keeping in view the needs of the South Indian Community in R K Puram and its adjoining areas, a primary school was set up by the Madrasi Education Association in November 1964. It was raised to the level of middle School in 1966. It became a full-fledged higher secondary School in the year 1968.

The foundation stone for the present building was laid by Sh. K. S. Ramaswamy, Dy. Minister, Govt of India in 1971. The school is imparting education in Science, Commerce and Humanities Stream till class XII under 10+2 scheme. The co-educational school has about 1000 students. Most of the students belong to the Tamil speaking population of Delhi. There are 50 dedicated members of the staff who take care of the students there. The students at DTEA Senior Secondary School, R K Puram have shown their talents in sports, cultural and other co-curricular activities.

The school has produced many executives, doctors, chartered accountants, IAS officers and scientists. The school has a well-developed infrastructure. All the class rooms have 4 fans, 3 tube-lights and phenolic green board. There are geography and science labs that have all the equipments, furnitures and fixures. The school has a functional bore-well and also rain water harvesting. The library also has a good collection of valuable books. The school also provides sports activities. There's one playground, a well-maintained garden and many laboratories for boys and girls.

The DTEA Senior Secondary Schools are seven secondary schools that are located in Delhi. The school was initially registered with the Madrasi Education Association (MEA) in 1919 by a group of Tamilians. The school was conceptualized as the group of Tamilians wanted to teach their children traditional tamil values. In the year 1923, the first school was established. The school community in Delhi raised funds for the second building. Presently, the DTEA consists of seven senior secondary schools with 7,000 students and 500 teachers. The DTEA runs seven senior secondary schools and they are located at Mandir Marg, Lodi Estate, Lakshmibai Nagar, Moti Bagh, Karol Bagh, R.K. Puram and Janakpuri. These schools are aided minority institutions that are owned and managed by the DTEA at Lodhi Estate and are registered under the Societies Registration Act. The school is basically for the Tamils. The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education. The school is recognized by the directorate of Education, Government of NCT of Delhi. Four languages English, Tamil, Hindi and Sanskrit are taught at the school.
