On March, 11, the magnitude 9 earthquake happened in Northeast Japan shocks the world. As Japan plays an important role in the world economy, not only Japan, but the world indutry also suffers from it.
The earthquake affects the import of the China chip industry. In 2010, China imported 18.0 billion dollars integrated circuit. It's about the one-tenth of the import. As to the Canon, Sony, Toshiba and Panasonic digital camera, camcorder and notebook, the price is relatively stable, but there is price rising of the accessories.
The Japan chip industry covers one-fifth on the world market. The epicenter is very close to the Japan semiconductor manufacturers. After the earthquake, Toshiba, Panasonic, Sony and Nikon manufacturers close the related factories.
The world second flash manufacturer Toshiba America spokesman Deborah Chamlmers said, all the factories are checking the damaged condition. Except for the chip industry, as to the world electronics industry, another affected industry is the LCD panel industry. It's known to us that the LCD panel is the important component of the tablet and flat TV.
The Japan manufacturers are very conservative. It only maintains the key technology at home and put the assembling abroad. The earthquake will promote them to consier the world arranging of the production technology and share the risk.
It may change their conservative policy objectively. It will promote its key production technology to transit to other countries like China. It will be beneficial to their developments and the world consumer electronics industry.
However, we should consider the future as to the Japan industry policy and overseas production strategy. As to the supply shortage of the LCD panel and electronic elements caused by the earthquake, we may consider importing from America, Korea and China Taiwan.
In view of the chip, the earthquake will not affect the supply and demand greatly. The semicondutor industry will not go into full production. Generally, it only realizes 80% of the production ability. That's to say, the supply is over the demand. But it may have the influence on the price of the chip.
And there are opinions that the earthquake will have a positive effect on the IT enterpries on the other important production bases like Korea and China Taiwan. The Korea and Taiwan panel industry are also expected to get more opportunities when Japan Sharp is got stuck. And there is possibility that some dealers of the digital products and electronic elements want to gain quick profits.
