There are few Side effects of CT scan with Contrast

The contrast agents are also called as dye. It is a fluid used to differentiate the tissues from one another; it is administered to the body of the patient intravenously, orally or rectally. It can even attenuate the powerful x rays. When injected to the patient's body, it moves all along the body and gets absorbed by the organs. When the body is passed through the cylindrical sphere and the radiation is passed through the body, the x rays get attenuated which in turn highlights the organ containing the contrast and it appear as the area that are white in the imaged developed.

There are also few Side effects of CT scan with Contrast. Though it is supposed to be a procedure that is safe, but the contrast agents still have some side effects also. The effects do not harm the human body seriously, and so such complications are not serious and do not harm the body. The main problem arises when the patient who is given the contrast is allergenic to the medicine or the chemical used. Normally CT scan is not advisable for those persons who have some kidney problem, or have high blood sugar. If any side effect is caused then the duration is very short. It doesn't have any long term side effect. Sometimes the bitter taste of the contrast agents that are administered orally is annoying, but it does not last long.

The basic side effect that trouble the patients are, sudden chills, fatigue, vomiting, headache, nausea, dizziness, constipation, when the contrast is injected rectally, and sometimes the breathing problems.

To avoid Side effects of CT scan with Contrast normally the blood of the patient is tested prior to the test. The acronym of CT scan is computer tomography scan. The process of CT incorporates the use of contrast agents. The contrast agents play a very significant role in the process of this type of imaging. It is used to visualise the affected areas clearly and in contrast with the other tissues. That is why they are called contrast agents. It is the best material used to differentiate the affected areas from others.
