A vehicle's resale value is one of the last things on a consumers mind when they are looking for a new car. A consumer is usually more focused on getting a good deal and securing a reasonable financing rate. But in the end it is better for a consumer to buy a $25,000 vehicle now which will have a better resale value in five years, instead of buying a vehicle that only costs $20,000 now but will not hold its value after five years of ownership.
Each year Kelley Blue Book (kbb.com) recognizes automakers' achievements in producing new vehicles that maintain their value after five years of ownership. The Best Resale Value awards are given to vehicles based on a long list of factors including past history of a given model or brand, how good the car is when matched up against its competitors, and how many competitors are in the mix. Kbb.com awards a top vehicle in each class.
This year three Honda models were awarded spots on the coveted Best Resale Value list. Landing a spot on the top 10 list was the Honda CR-V. In fact, not only did the CR-V earn a spot in the top 10; it will hold its value better than any other car now on the market. It took spot number one as the vehicle with the most resale value. Kelley Blue Book expects the 2011 CR-V is will retain 46.8% of its value after five years of ownership.
The Honda CR-V is a "greatest hits collection" of everything a smart shopper is looking for in a vehicle. The CR-V offers the utility and height of an SUV but in a compact manner. The CR-V is also a leader in fuel efficiency when compared to others in its class. For many buyers the 2011 CR-V is the perfect combination of value, utility and efficiency.
The 2011 Honda Fit also earned a spot on the Best Resale Value list in its class of subcompact cars. The Honda Fit has a flexible interior and great fuel economy. The Fit is also one of the most stylish compact cars on the market and is fun to drive. It's a sensible car that almost anyone would be happy to own.
The last Honda model to make the list is the 2011 Honda Accord. This vehicle was awarded Best Resale Value in the mid-size car class. The Honda Accord continues to excel as a reliable and solidly built vehicle. The vehicle also offers great ergonomics and is surprisingly fun to drive. The Honda Accord beat out other models its class even though it is priced higher due to its history of reliability and value.
For many years Honda has portrayed value and reliability and this year Kelley Blue Book has recognized their value as well. Three Honda models on the Best Resale Value list is no small feat. Both the mid-size car class and compact utility vehicle class include a number of popular vehicles; but it just goes to show that Honda knows how to build their vehicles to last long.
