People are not reading your articles because they are interested in your site. They are looking for information. If they like what you have to offer, they will head over to your site. I am sure you must have heard about the term 'ad blind'. People have become used to seeing ads that they ignore them. If your post sounds like one big advertisement most people will ignore it.
Keyword spamming, link spamming, use of excessive anchor text will never take you anywhere. They only show how desperate you are and the kind of personality you have. Working online has taught me that nobody really likes spammers, or even lazy people who want to reap easy profits and no work. Besides, Google penalizes such content and you will only end up wasting your time.
Market your articles. I know you are trying to market your site first. However, sharing your articles on Facebook or tweeting on Twitter can help you increase traffic to your content. Remember, this people will at last come to your site. It is like killing two birds with one stone. You can also link back to your articles to increase their search engine visibility.
Make sure that your header gives your reader an inkling of what they expect in the body. Like if your title reads something like 'Effects of Smoking' elaborate on that. Don't give us ways you can use to stop smoking. If you have to make sure it appears below the effects.
