Exercising at 50 needs stamina, healthy muscle and strong bones which, to achieve, is harder said than done.
Excessive exercising at this age might be too stressful to your heart since by this age, you body would have already started to deteriorate. You have to make sure that you keep your exercise to the optimal level and not stress yourself too much.
Be extremely cautious about diet This is a driving factor when it comes to maintaining good health. Stay away from any food that has high calories and also oily food. Stick to vegetables and if possible, a mostly vegetarian diet.
Exercise Exercising definitely keeps your body fit and strong enough to deal with any health problems. This does not mean you have to get into vigorous exercise. In fact you have to avoid it since you might end up with bone fractures if not handled properly.
All you really need to do is go on walks in the morning and if possible, a light jog for around 15-20 minutes a day. But you can train your heart and muscle by going for cardio exercises like treadmill etc. But in case you are interested in experimenting with harder exercise, hire a personal trainer and get some advice from them.
Avoid smoking and Alcohol This might seem impossible at the age of 50 since you are already used to it from so long but try keeping it at optimum level so that your weak lungs can still hold up the damage that has been caused due to smoking for so long.
Get enough rest and sleep. You might be at the brink of your business at 50 or doing a job that takes too much stress but at the age above 50, you need to think about your health above everything. Don't let the stress get to you and relax as much as possible. One way for this is to practice yoga that keeps your mind calm and refreshed.
Keep your goals and expectations at minimum. If you are trying to lose weight, keep your goals realistic in a way that won't put too much stress on you. Talk to a good dietitian and let them suggest you a plan that work for you.
