World Cup Stats Worrying Pakistan Against India

The ICC World Cup 2011 has turned to peak as the arch rivals of sub-continent, India and Pakistan will go all guns blazing at their opponents. The second semi-final is between India and Pakistan at PCA Stadium, Mohali on 30th March, 2011.

India and Pakistan made their way to semi-finals by defeating Australia and West Indies in their quarters of ICC World Cup 2011. This will be supreme fight of titans in the big tournament; there is lot of high security for the players and the stadium. In the tournament so far, India has been very strong in their batting line-up and Pakistan is threatened with their ferrous bowling attack.

The stats of the World resembles the fact as Shahid Afridi is the leading wicket taker in the tournament with 21 wickets, includes two five wickets and two four wickets hauls. Followed up by Umar Gul with 14 wickets and their batting order hasn't been consistent. Umar Akmal is the only batsmen to score beyond 200 runs.

Coming to Indian strong batting order, Sachin Tendulkar is the leading run scorer with 379 runs includes two centuries and a half century. Followed by Virender Sehwag 342 (1-100, 1-50), Yuvraj Singh 341 (1-100, 4-50) and Gautam Gambhir 269 (3-50). Zaheer Khan is their pick of the bowlers for India with 17 wickets and with all-round performance Yuvraj Singh is at second place with 11 wickets. Shahid Afridi and Yuvraj Singh are the two frontline contenders for the Man of the Series.

Both the teams have met four times in the World Cup's; India has the upper hand over Pakistan. India have won their all four matches in the all the World Cup's against Pakistan and this will be fifth time, the arch-rivals will be battling for the place of finals of ICC World Cup 2011. Although Pakistan has better record in ODI's against India with 69 wins in their 119 games.

The great Sachin Tendulkar is yet to score World Cup century against Pakistan, he felt two runs short to achieve this feet in 2003 World Cup. Sachin was dismissed on 98 and Saeed Anwar is the only batsmen to score century in their World Cup clashes. Sachin Tendulkar is top run getter for both the teams as he scored 228 runs in his four matches.

Even bowling stats worries Pakistan, Pakistan has the better bowling attack compared to India. But the Indian pacers Venkatesh Prasad and Javagal Srinath were highest wicket takers with 8 and 7 wickets respectively.

Pakistan also lost the inaugural Twenty20 title to India in 2007, India were emerged as winners of the tournament.
