On the surface (or to the outsider) all Twitter seems is people just sending out very short "blog posts" about what they're doing at that moment and nothing else.
For example how much can you tell someone in 140 characters? Nothing really, but you can lead them more into your life, business, interests, etc by giving a taster of what you're up to and then they follow you to find out more. It's kind of like leaving a trail of bread crumb's, you drop a bit here and there and wait to see if others take up the trail and start following you?
But, even if you have been using Twitter and have a very small following don't give up because what I'm about to tell you may change your mind about Twitter forever.
If you look at Twitter like a MLM "pyramid scheme" with you at the top (of the pyramid) and after "Twittering" you suddenly have 10 -20 people following you suddenly you can have a potential huge audience.
How?
If you consider that those 10 -20 people (following you) may have a following that's the same as yours (10-20 followers) you can quickly see how much your potential audience could be and how much your following could grow.
But this could be a worst case scenario, because if you look at most people on Twitter they could have a 50-100 people following them.
Now, imagine if you put a blog post or an article in one of your Tweets and some of your immediate followers picked up on it and passed it on to the their following?
Apart from the extra traffic you've just got to your site, some of those people may like what they see and then follow increasing your potential audience to an even bigger size.
Suddenly, its like the snow charging down the mountainside it starts off slowly and small but as it gathers (followers) along the way and suddenly it doesn't resemble the snowball at the beginning anymore because of it new size (huge audience).
But as I said it's a "Potential" audience.
How well your message is carried is up to you. If you Twitter constantly about nonsense that know whats to know about and just fill you Tweets with affiliate links you'll never get anywhere.
But, if you put others first and give great content and advice. People will only be glad to recommend you to others and before you know it your e-mail inbox will be filled with people putting up their hands and saying "Yes, you're the type o
