Much has been said about Tidysongs and how it actually works. As a long-term user, here what I think you need to know about the program, because it will help you make the most of it, and decide whether you need it or not.
How to use Tidysongs?
Once you have downloaded Tidysongs and when you open it up, the main menu window pops up and offers you 4 choices:
find duplicates
add album artwork
fix your songs
organize genres
If you go to "options", you can see there are actually several features you can choose to include in the cleanup, like song titles, artists names, album covers, year and genres.
Additionally, for each cleaning up option, you may either choose to perform the work manually or to have it done automatically. The point of doing it manually is that it allows you remain in full control while still being able to customize it. That's a great thing to do when you have super edgy music that no one about yet! And it still saves you a tremendous amount of time, compared to what you would have to do if you typed everything manually.
