How to Start Building Your Web Traffic Through Facebook

Create a Like Page:

A Like Page is a Page intended for business. It introduces visitors to your product orservices - much like your web page. On your Like Page you can have an opt-in form to build your email list. You can sell products or services directly from the Like Page. Visitors can Like your Page which will notify all of their Friends about your Page (similar to having Friends on your Profile Page).

One way to create a Like Page is to do a search on any topic and look at all the page results. On the results page click on Pages at the top left of your screen - a list of Pages for the topic you searched will appear. Select any Page and click the Like Button at the top of the Page. Know scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the link "Create a Page for My Business". The next Page is "Create a Page" - on the right side click the appropriate button under "Official Page" (most of the time you will choose "Brand, product, or organization"). From under the "Brand, product, or organization" select the appropriate designation. Next select a Page name - the name that appears at the top of the page, this is not the same as the Page username which is the URL of the Page. Know click "Create Official Page" button at the bottom. At this point your Like Page has been created, follow the steps on the screen to complete you new Like Page.

Select a Page Username:

Personalize your facebook URL (web address) with a unique Page username. The Page username will appear in the address bar as follows:

www.facebook.com/pages/your-user-name/123456

When you first create your Page username it will contain dashes and end with a line of numbers, kind of hard for someone that wants to visit your Page to remember. You can customize your Page username after you have 25 or more Likes to your Page so that it would look more like this:

www.facebook.com/yourusername

Removing the dashes and the line of numbers is a much more appealing look.

If you have a product or a brand you are selling try to incorporate the name into your Page username. If you have many products or services which fall into one niche you could use the name of your niche, your website, your business or a combination their of. Your Page username should clearly identity you or your business, it should be unique. A Page username that is generic runs the risk of be removed because facebooks intention for Pages is that they represent your product or business. A sure fire way to make your Page username unique would be to include your own name. You could also use Google Analytics to search for key words related to your product or service and include those words in your Page username, increasing the SEO (search engine optimization) of your page. Impersonating anyone or anything is grounds for your Page to be removed. Visit www.facebook.com/username to confirm the username you want is available.
