Monophobia, better known as the fear of being alone, is something that anyone that suffers from can say for sure is not fun. There are different levels of this and it can be a hard thing for a person to overcome, and at times it can even take over their entire life and cause problems on many levels. Depending on the level of the phobia, these people will find that they often times miss out on many things.
Most of the people that suffer from this will find that they are forced to lead very restricted lives. They will not feel like they can go out and meet friends or even perhaps take a taxi to theater to meet them because they feel like they must always be with someone and they must always have an escort so to speak.
They usually are not able to function if they don't have others around them. This means that most times in their life are based only around what other people have going on and what they are able to do and when. Work can even be a chore as they must be able to work independently even if it's just getting there. This can hurt most any kind of relationship because the person without the phobia will feel like they must babysit the other one at all times. This can place unneeded strain on the other person and can often times make them feel like they are trapped.
This is something that should be treated and talked about as soon as any signs are shown.
