OK, now don't start thinking of dinosaurs roaming around in camouflage pants; I'm talking about man using camouflage in their everyday life. This has been substantiated by early cave paintings. Camouflage is the art of concealment, becoming invisible by blending in with your surroundings.
Some reptiles are masters of this, take the Chameleon for example. This crafty creature can change colour and become almost invisible as it lays it wait for dinner to approach. You'll find it in marine life as some species of fish disappear amongst the coral as they avoid the predator.
Camouflage is mainly, dare I say recognized more in military terms where the art of concealment can be the difference between life and death. It was used more extensively during the first World War after airplanes were developed. The men on the ground were suddenly exposed to the prying eyes of the aviators from above. French soldiers wore huge cloaks covered in green and brown paint. Over a period of time men and machines have been absorbed into the background. From greens of the jungle, pinks of the desert and white for snow covered terrains.
The great general public took to wearing camouflage pants and jackets during the demonstrations against the Vietnam War in the 1970's. The protesters felt closer to the guys they were trying to bring home. On a less somber note it appeared in the 80's when thousands of Punk guys and gals took to wearing camouflage pants during their rebellion period.
Strangely enough it wasn't quite as apparent in the 90's but more than made up for it on the turn of year 2000. Fashion Designers were beside themselves to promote an alternative fashion statement; Camouflage was back with a vengeance.
From catwalks to sidewalks camouflage clothing could be seen everywhere. The market for kids apparel in camouflage has been extensive with the emergence of many items such as book covers, bag straps and pant cuffs. Camouflage pants and tops are definitely in for kids.
Everywhere you go you'll see camouflage pants, jackets and tops whether it's smart casual, lounge about wear or work related. There's no sign of it waning and who would have thought what started many thousands of years ago would still be very much a part of the future.Check out more information here.
