What Have You Done for Your Well-Being Lately?

It's never too late to turn the boat around and steer clear of the rocks! We are all capable of living the best life possible and giving it all we've got, we've just got to take it one day at a time and one action at a time. Every small action we take can make a heck of a difference to our overall well-being and create positive new habits for life!

Here is a quick list of some of my favourite tips for weight loss and maintaining your weight and staying strong and healthy for life.

Drink lots of water 8-10 glasses a day (around 2 litres). Many people are dehydrated and don't even know it. Water helps skins elasticity, helps the joints and internal organs function better, raises mental alertness, reduces cellulite, flushes toxins, helps flatten your stomach and improves your overall health.

Get lots of sleep and don't go to bed too late. You can't play catch up and this habit will cause your regeneration and metabolism to get completely off track.

Exercise regularly at least 3-4 times a week for a least 20 minutes - incorporate cardio activity and weights, if you can't, make sure you at least go for brisk walks regularly.

Adjust your attitude and frame of mind in that you see yourself as being worth it.

Add fruits or vegetables to every meal.

Minimize caffeine - too much expands fat cells and lets the body hold onto fat.

Don't skip meals.

Cook with healthy oils like raw organic coconut oil and sesame oil.

Use extra-virgin olive oil (cold pressed) for salad dressings, mixed with herbs and apple or white vinegar.

Eat a wide variety of foods - try and eat as many different colours of foods possible.

Do your research on a food or product if something peaks your interest.

Be creative with your food, don't be afraid to try different things.

Avoid late night snacking, it'll keep you awake and sit in your stomach and on your hips for the night.

Use herbs and spices to make dishes exciting.

Take a multi-vitamin and wild fish oil supplement (if you're not sure, check with a doctor first)

Eat a variety of salads.

Drink green tea in the morning.

Be honest with yourself and don't give up! It's a way of life.

Avoid flour and sugar.

Avoid sugary drinks.

Avoid deep fried foods.

Avoid packaged foods - most are packed with preservatives, fats and sugars.

Minimize canned foods - read the labels carefully and keep them to a minimum, if you can choose the fresh alternative instead, then do so.

Keep alcohol to a minimum.

Find support or a coach to help you if you can.

Be careful with sauces and dressings - most are loaded with sugar and bad fats.

Minimize jams and spreads - read labels carefully, many are loaded with way too much sugar.

Avoid refined carbs... go for grainy items.

Add more beans, lentils, barley and legumes to your daily meals.

Add more fish into your meals - tuna, salmon, herring, pollock, mackerel, haddock etc. There are so many types out there. Try to have 2-3 servings a week.

These tips are powerful and each one adds up and can make such a huge difference in your mental and physical state of well-being.
