Stress should be managed because this may cause a disruption in our whole being if not handled appropriately. Stress reduction can be done in a variety of ways, depending upon our awareness of its existence and our creativity to devise ways to manage it. Stress is a normal process that our bodies go through each day. They can be caused by a stimulus that endangers our lives or simply those that make us feel a specific level of pressure. Some of the causes of stress are: demanding schedules from work and family and various life changes such as marriage, pregnancy or death.

This is true if the stress being experienced is not very frequent and with a low intensity. If a person is always stressed and there are no stress reduction steps taken, this may challenge the normal defenses of the body and may lead to illness. Maintaining good health requires effective management of stress. Experiencing a low or medium level of stress can actually help people perform at their best. There are many people who love to work when they are pressured and that their product is even better when they are scrambling to make deadlines.

These symptoms, if overlooked can cause fatal results in our bodies and our immune system defenses will be lowered. One would eventually be vulnerable to disease if these signs are not acted upon. It should also be noted that once you have questions on changes in your physiologic state, it would be best to consult a physician first before doing any kind of treatment.

Some symptoms of stress are irritability, agitation, restlessness, inability to concentrate or focus on things, the feeling of being overwhelmed, nervous habits, inability to sleep, negative thoughts, memory problems and anxiety. The first step in effective stress management is to accept that you are stressed. Recognize the need for help and devise a plan to help yourself.

Relaxation works by causing positive effects in our physiologic state which thereby relieves stress. Since stress is a physiologic process, then relaxation counteracts its effects in our bodies. Relaxation slows the heart rate and therefore lowers the blood pressure. It also reduces the demand of oxygen by our body by relaxing our cells. If we take time to relax, we can increase our concentration level and also our energy level.

Every individual have different coping strategies to minimize or handle the effects of stress in their well being. Relaxation is one of the most commonly used stress management technique. Relaxation is technically the opposite of stress and that's what is needed to control the level of stress you are experiencing.

Meditation is the simplest way to relieve stress which can be done by simply taking time to have a break, listen to relaxing music and do deep breathing techniques. Meditation can be done anywhere and is anytime. Spare a few minutes for yourself and practice stress reduction techniques. This way, you can prolong your life and maintain good heath not only for you but also for people who are counting on you.

There are many ways to relieve stress by relaxation. You can opt for yoga, a massage or a simple meditation. Yoga helps our bodies relax by balancing the yin and yang energies in our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects. This holistic relaxation not only relaxes the body but most especially the mind. Having a massage relieves stress by relaxing the muscles in our bodies and causing a release of happy hormones which will make us feel good.
