In recent years, a lot of discussions and debates have been in news regarding the school uniforms. This is a serious issue for some of the students and there is no definitive answer to this question. Some children feel that there are various benefits of wearing school uniform while other think that it is a total waste of money.
But the school authorities think in another way. They believe that public school uniforms are essential for the students. They do not allow them to wear their own clothes because of the gangs. According to the school authorities, school uniform is the best way to stop the gangs from displaying their garb and colors. School uniform also helps to stop the violence and keeping the sense of pride among the students. Moreover, uniform helps in breaking down all the barriers among the various socioeconomic groups. In simple words, uniform brings unity. Since there would be no fashion in the uniform, thus there would be less bully's and fights. That is why almost every school has made compulsory to wear school uniforms from nursery to the twelfth class.
On the other hand, those who think that there is no need to wear school uniform are also correct on their part. There are various reasons which support their point. These are:
* Young people oftenly express their outlook and feeling through the clothes they wear. In this form, school uniform will take away the form of expression which they require to show.
* School uniform inhibits the freedom of choice of students. Since school teaches the student that our country is a free one and we are free to make our own decision, then how can they exploit their own rules and force the students to wear their school dress.
* Some students, who belong to poor families, find extremely hard in buying the dress. So "cost" is another factor for some of the students. Most of the parents even look for discount school uniforms so that they have to pay less for the uniform. The main problem for the parents is that their child would be requiring additional clothes to wear after school and on weekends. This doubles up the amount of money for them.
