Barely making it financially, a man threw himself on the bed in despair. He could barely feed his family. Weekend jobs were scarce but he had to look because his family just wasn't making it. He had reached the end of himself. He cried out to God for help.
Ten years from that day, he flew over that same place in a jet he owned, landing at an airport near his 8-bedroom house. What changed? What did he learn?
Secret #1: Believe
All things are possible to the person who believes in an outcome as if it has already been manifested. Jesus said, "Everything is possible for the one who believes." All spiritual traditions speak of the power of belief.
The question for you is, you can believe that what you want is manifest or not. But why would you choose to believe that it's not? Does that belief really protect you?
Once you've rejected the false idea that negative beliefs protect you, you are on the road to beliefs that will change your world.
Right now, imagine your ideal job. Rejoice in the belief that it's happened. Expect it. And as you work towards it, relax in the knowledge that it's here, just not seen yet. Relax in a universe or higher power that rewards real belief.
Secret #2: Honor Your Higher Power With a Tithe
Rather than debate the Judeo/Christian idea of giving a tenth of your income as a tithe, I'm simply saying that our young, jet flying friend began to pay an honest tithe with joy because he believed that God desired it and he believed that doing so aligned with his belief in a higher power. Abraham's God instituted a tithe long before the law was given through Moses. Tithing has been around a long time. And it works from an increase standpoint.
To honor this secret, you simply have to do 2 things. First, as you experience increase or income, set aside and pay the tenth with joy. If you have a bad attitude about it, you don't believe it and it won't do you any good. Rejoice! Next, give it to an organization that is blessing you spiritually. It's that simple.
Secret #3: Sow If You Want to Reap
The young man began to get a hold of the idea that if he wanted something, he was to give away something valuable to someone else as he felt directed by his higher power. When he wanted a car, he looked around to see how he could first bless someone else with something from the automotive part of his life. He only had parts. But sure enough, he felt led to give these away to a friend. Not long after, he was given a car by a friend. He sowed in faith and reaped accordingly.
The principle of sowing means that you begin to live a life of generosity. The fundamental question is, do you trust the universe, your higher power or your version of God to bless you as you bless others or don't you? If you don't, you won't. If you do, you will. But decide right now if you really, no kidding believe or not.
Secret #4: Steward Your Life Well
It pains me to see someone blessed with opportunity and wealth only to see it dwindle because they don't have a good handle on their debt, expenses, revenue, and other aspects of their life. It doesn't matter if you are rich or poor; if you know the state of your "flocks," you are in a much better place to manage them well and see it grow.
Good stewards know the state of their financial affairs rather than winging it. They know if they have money for discretionary expenses, how much debt they have, and their plan to reduce their debt.
Secret #5: Build Trust Daily
Each day we have an opportunity to either build trust with others or erode it. We build trust when we manage and meet the expectations of others, serve beyond their expectations, benefit others, and walk in accountability. With trust, we get job leads and opportunities that aren't available to others. Without trust, we continually operate in a relationship deficient with others.
The young man in this story had a lot of trust from others, but decided that daily he would build it. He did so because he realized that his higher power was his source of wealth, provision and protection. That he simply didn't need the approval of others. And he wanted to honor his God or higher power by the way he lived. And he increased in trust and favor from others. And doors opened.
Summary
My friend Keith Moore was the young man I'm describing. Today he gives away a good portion of his income yet he simply can't keep up with the blessings he receives. He delights in a lifestyle of giving. And yes, he enjoys a level of wealth most people never see. He's not special, just smart about the secrets of spiritual wealth building. Make these secrets work for you as well in your search for better jobs and a better life. I have. They work.
