There are many fulfilling opportunities for the professional in beautiful Canada. Before packing your bags you must know that, like all countries, there are certain requirements that a potential immigrant must meet. Are you looking for temporary or permanent status? The regulations for the status of each are very different.
If you are seeking permanent immigration, you will be free to live and work anywhere in Canada, There are different standards that must be met if you decide that you are interested in a move to the Providence of Quebec. You will also enjoy the privileges of Canadian citizenship as a permanent resident as well as sponsoring family members who immigrate with you. A temporary status doesn't require as much and your Visa may be renewed before the date of expiration, but this is not a guarantee.
Working with a Permanent Resident Visa you must be considered a "Skilled Worker," a "Professional," a "Business Person," a family member of a permanent resident, or someone who is already a citizen.
Skilled Workers, or Professionals, include jobs like: physician specialists, nurses, teachers, and oil experts all the way to computer technicians, construction engineers, crane operators, chefs and cooks.
To retain permanent resident status you must meet certain requirements based on education, language skills, age, employment arrangements, and work experience. A medical examination may also be a part of the process.
A Business Owner is listed in three categories, "Investor," "Entrepreneur," or "Self-Employed." For the investor/entrepreneur permanent status may be based on your net worth, business expertise, medical examination, and background check.
The self-employee category requires you to show your ability to create a form of self-employment, and to what extent your contribution will be to the Canadian lifestyle. It is also required that you have already been self-employed in this type of business and making a profit from it.
For temporary status you must either have a job waiting or you must quickly retain a job to remain. You must get a work permit from the Canadian government, which will require you to work at a specific job while in Canada. There are certain exceptions to these temporary resident requirements such as military, performing artists, clergy, and law representatives.
A fast-track to Canadian immigration is a program known as the Provincial Nomination Program (PNP). Every Canadian providence and one territory has their own PNP. This program is tailored to certain job responsibilities each community needs.
You must also know that the Providence of Quebec has its own set of immigration regulations and scoring system. It has recently been announced that they are changing immigration status for international students and foreign workers. There may be other stipulations in various providences. Make sure you have researched the area you are interested in thoroughly to make sure all requirements can be met.
