subject: Do You Have Monophobia? [print this page] Do You Have Monophobia? Do You Have Monophobia?
Do you get nervous or fearful when you are left alone? Does it make you anxious when you are home by yourself? Do you feel incredibly depressed or lonely when you are left to your own devices because you have no one around you? If any of these things sound familiar to you then you may have a condition called Monophobia or the fear of being alone.
Monophobia affects millions of people every day leaving them feeling hopeless and unable to cope with simply being alone in the comfort of their own home. The overwhelming need to have someone with them is sometimes more than the individual with monophobia can bear, resulting in calls being made to their significant other or going to a friend's house and overstaying their welcome. Often the friends and family members that are being leaned on to help with that feeling of loneliness misunderstand the desperate need for companionship that someone suffering from the fear of being alone has. These misunderstandings can result in damage being done either temporarily or permanently to those relationships.
Monophobia can happen to anyone and can be crippling if it is not properly diagnosed and treated. Everyone has those feelings of being alone, but when those feelings of loneliness become overwhelming and start to impact relationships, a diagnosis should be sought after. Do not continue to live your life in a state of loneliness and fear -- reach out to your healthcare provider today and start living a more comfortable life.
