Did you prepare yourself for your life journey destination?
We are all on the same journey, journey of life. We all know this. But every one makes his own destination. Some people prepare themselves to be engineers, some plumbers, some teachers, some doctors, some barristers, some swindlers, some Mafiosis, some politicians, some farmers, some artists, some bums and some priests. Well, it all comes back to the same thing. Preparation for these skills must be done, even it takes time, efforts and money.
Then another journey is to construct your social life that is the family. If we are really social animals then we all want to have a family of our own and build a home and have some children for those who are normal that is. Another journey would be to have some hobby or a pastime and the varieties are endless. Another journey would be if you are after making money, or having possessions, or even looking for fame, for power, for glory, all are open ended journeys with all risks possible.
The fact that we do not know what's going to happen in the world only one minute later keeps us as fragile beings as ever. No one person has a guarantee to get what he or she wants. Despite all the planning, all the will power and all our efforts there remains always the element of the unknown and the element of chance, or destiny, or whatever eventuality that might play a decisive role in our journey of life. Achievements of our dreams and wants are full of obstacles and problems, or dissuasions and persuasions. No man is a master of his journey and whatever he plans might end up in water or in a catastrophe. Leaving chance and destiny aside, if at all is possible, we decide step by step our journey track according to the possibilities offered by life itself. These are all journeys related to this life and to this world. In all these journeys we are devoted to serve our motivations and urges as well as our instincts. We all have to undergo the vicissitudes of life and all are subject to the unknown. In these journeys we call on our physical-body capacities and efforts, our mental capacities and efforts and our psychological capacities and efforts. We move within these capacities and we endeavor our efforts to our own capacities. Both define one another in terms of our aims and needs. But there remains the most important journey of our being namely that of the spiritual one. For those who do not believe in the soul or the spirit as part of our make up then the problem is solved and it does not exist. Such a journey does not need to be taken and the ultimate aim remains within the boundaries and the circle of our physico-mental- psychological capacities. As for those who believe in the soul and its role in our being, and that the other parts the physical, mental and psychological cannot function with out this life giving element then another journey of life becomes to the fore and they have to think about it. This is the spiritual journey that believers in God take. It is the most hazardous, most effort exacting and most uncertain one compared with all other journeys. It requires of us devotion to a world that we do not see but we have to think about and feel. It requires our intellect to be guided by our soul. It requires all other systems whether physical, mental or psychological, or even the para-psychological one to be completely involved in the process. This can be breath taking and can end in nothing if our intention and concentration and aim is not so exact and clear. But, in fact, how clear can we crystallize our thoughts and feelings in terms of spiritual metaphysical objectives can be? Not very much. We take a journey towards the completely unknown. No evidence clears our way, no proof lights our minds, and we pursuit the unknown. This makes the spiritual journey not so clear and not so exact. From atheism-agnosticism to belief and faith, from polytheism to monotheism, from the idolatry perceptible to the imaginative intelligible, from the scientific to the presumption, from the conjectural to argumentative, from the philosophical to the metaphysical and vice versa, the spiritual journey can take all shapes and cover all tracks. For this there is no one way only, and no one perspective only, rather every individual has his or her own convictions, always under the aegis of lack of proof. However, death knocks at the door of every one, and every person has to think about it. If wise enough have to prepare for it. The logic of this, everyone, whether a believer or a disbeliever makes his own journey whether he likes it or not. Those who prepare for it will not have much surprise on the day of reckoning but those who did not prepare for their journey, and most humans belong to this group, shall have the surprise of their lives. Did you prepare your own journey?
