Move over smartphones, the cream of the crop is here. The HTC 7 Mozart aims to leave the mobile competition in the dust and does just that by weighing in at just 4.5 ounces with a super sleek design. But it is more than looks with this handset, not only is it top of the class when it comes to user interface and usability, but it also comes loaded with all of the technological bells and whistles. Start with the 8 megapixel camera that provides crystal clear stills and videos that you can store on that eight megabytes of internal memory. The six time digital zoom that the phone offers provides a great feature to get decent shots from long distance, and really complements the rest of the camera goodies. Monochrome, beach mode, and a sport setting highlight the less technical (but a bit more fun) aspects, while the meter mode for lighting and macro focus are sure to have camera lovers drooling. And the flash. Oh the flash. Instead of the typical LED flash found on most other smartphones out there, you know, the overpowering LED one that tends to wash anyone and everything out, the Mozart uses a xenon flash. "Xenon" being a fancy word for "awesome." The flash does an incredible job of balancing the surrounding environment to give the picture great clarity without making everyone look like that really hot vampire guy from that one movie.
To complement the camera, the HTC 7 Mozart has stepped up the music game for the brand. Far out performing all other HTC media players, the Mozart uses Zune to provide a great user experience. The cover flow-like artwork makes finding a forgotten song a joy, and being able to stick a shortcut to your favourite artist is a really handy feature to have. Bass and treble controls allow you to adjust just how hard you want to go while standing on the train platform. And FM radio capabilities perfectly cap off the music features offered. All of this is run on the phenomenal Windows Phone 7 platform. A constant flow of updates keep your home screen fresh while they populate the series of tiles that keeps them organised. You can throw as many apps and shortcuts onto the home screen as your heart desires, and the freedom to reorganise it in any way you please comes in handy. Any apps you don't want on the start screen are just a finger swipe away, and many come preloaded on a pay monthly plan including movies, news, and billing. All of it is fast and easy, not at all two adverbs usually associated with Windows in the past. But times they are a changing. Combine all of this with clear calls, easy typing, really well done internet browsing and sharing, and this is one really top of the line smartphone. It really does outperform the competition, and is a very welcome step towards the new era of the mobile device in a mobile world where mediocrity is the norm.
