Weight Shedding Tips for Your Heavy Parcels

The New Year often brings with it plenty of New Year's resolutions to lose some weight, one other way losing weight could help is by cutting the weight down on the parcels we send. The benefits of cutting the weight down in any parcels you are sending though are cheaper prices which in some cases can be a sizeable amount if you are able to just about scrape into a lower classification of postage.

The items we send are classified into certain groups such as letter, large letter, packet and parcel, each one means we pay a different total in order to send it and so it should affect our choices when selecting how to send our parcels such as the size and the weight. Obviously the size will be determined by the size of whatever we are sending, some items may be collapsible or can be deconstructed to an extent to shrink the size of the parcel but typically we will have to stick with whatever sized box will comfortably contain our items being sent.

When it comes to weight we may be adding a few grams here and there and not really know about it, such as denser padding material, using lightweight material like polystyrene or bubble wrap will protect your parcel's contents but also keep the weight down.

Sometimes when sending multiple items it may work out cheaper to either combine items or separate them, this may be related to size again, you may find that multiple items you have bought from a shop online all arrive separately on the same day. This is where sending an item individually has obviously helped them cut down the cost of delivery so it may be a tactic you can employ yourself.

The key is to make sure you weigh your parcels yourself to make sure that you know how much you can expect to have to pay. As well as letting you know for your own reference it will also help you to order online for a collection from one of the many online courier services, these again could be cheaper than other services and can be seen as a way to send parcels for less too.

Make sure to check the postage prices of your parcels before choosing a particular service to use, especially with international postage as the costs increase and you could get a better quote by looking online.
