If you are into internet marketing, you need the list because "the money is in the list"! Then, if the money is in the list, the question now is how do you get the list? In the next few weeks, I am going to share some tips and tricks about List building' that I have learnt in the past few years, the hard way. Some of the methods will help you build a long list in no time, and at almost zero cost.

The preamble

The List' as used here refers to the record of people; your potential customers who will buy your current product and will continue to buy other products you create later if you treat them right at first.

Your List' will make the marketing of your product cheap to you. It is also an asset to you. You can rent the list out to generate income for yourself! Do you ask how? If you have 30,000 people on your list and somebody marketing a product related to your niche approaches you to rent 5,000 emails on your list at $1 per email or mobile number on the list, that is an additional $5000 for just the asset.

This is no fiction; many of my readers here have leveraged and rented my list to market their products.

As a matter of fact, I give so much respect to orderliness; hence, before I go into the strategies, I guess I need to let you know some things you have to ensure before you start list building.

Things to ensure

The fact that you are launching an opt-in list does not guarantee you a list. Try to write an article that goes in line with your niche and post it at fora. Also, try to contribute at fora, offering solutions to questions of forumites'.

In addition, you need to put in place a good web-form on your website. Your site and the form must be attractive. You can offer your website visitor to subscribe to an opt-in list like a Newsletter or a free gift.

Also, you need to make your website impressive and easy to use. Do not expect every visitor to your site to be technology savvy; therefore you need to make your website easy to use and understood by all.

Providing good product and service is the third thing you need to ensure. Most of the time, a returning customer has a tendency of bringing more people to your list. Be rest assured that as your clientele grows, so shall your list grow.

List building tips

Having considered some basic things, let us go into some of the tips proper.

Tip 1: Ensure you fix the backend

On the download page of every product I sell, I ensure I add an opt-in form, where the customer can subscribe to newsletter or more information about the product he or she is buying. I know if I don't do that, I will not create a life-long loyal customer. Also, it guarantees me that my list is useful.

Hence, ensure that you fix the backend of your product, by simply placing an opt-in form on the download page. You can add it before the download link of the product the person is buying. As simple and as quick as it is, you have a list of hungry customers waiting for you to inform them on a new release.

Tip 2: Use powerful signature files

Do you remember that I said earlier that you should get involved in forum participation? This method I am about to share now relies so much on this activity for its result. Search for fora and blogs that discuss issues that are related to your choosing niche or your kind of product, register at such fora. Upon registration, ensure that you add your signature.

So when you submit an informative article, tips and tricks or participate by providing solution to the problem of forum members daily, readers of the article or the solution become hungrier for more information from you.

This will lead them to your signature, and they will be taken to where you opt-in form is. Since they want to learn more from you, they will subscribe. Therefore your List becomes bigger. In fact, this method alone adds 200 people weekly to my list.
