Superstar Rajinikanth and legendary Amitabh Bachchan are all set to come together for a film after the gap of nearly 20 years. The film is titled as Rana' and it is a tringual which will be made in three languages Tamil, Hindi and Telugu simultaneously. Maverick director K S Ravi Kumar is the director and Soundarya Rajinikanth (Rajinikanth's youngest daughter) is producing this huge budget film on her own production house Ocher Studios along with Eros International.
Bollywood Shahenshah Amitabh Bachchan is going to play in a cameo role. The word is that he will be seen in the second half of the film in a couple of scenes. It is aware that there is friendship bond between Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan for the last 30 years. They have acted together in 10 Hindi films like Bhrasthachar', Phool Bane Angarey', Bulandi', Andha Kanoon', Giraftar' etc. and all were almost turned out to be super hits. The last film was Mukul Anand's Hum' where the duo acted together and it was released in the year 1991.
Coming to more details of the film, Rajinikanth will appear in triple role. Dusky beauty and leggy lass bollywood actress Deepika Padukone is finalized as one of the heroine and others are yet to be selected. Being the requirement of two more ladies for the film, there are many top actresses names like Madhuri Dixit, Anushka Shetty and Asin Thottumkal were doing rounds at one point of time. Finally, there is a buzz that ever youthful actress Rekha and Bollywood actress Vidya Balan are likely to act in the film. And now, the latest buzz is that Rekha has walked out of the project due to monetary issues with film's producer.
There is also no official confirmation from both Rekha and Vidya Balan regarding their part in the film. So the filmmakers are still in search of two heroines. Buzz is that they are considering Hema Malini in place of Rekha.
Oscar award winner A R Rahman is composing the music for the flick. Ratnavelu, who worked as camera man for sensational Robo' is working as cinematographer. The film is likely to go on floors in April this year and expected to release in 2012.
