Does Your Intellectual Ability Affect Your Level of Success as an Internet Marketer?

When I was in high school I was adept at grasping concepts and internalizing what was taught in the classroom. I usually passed my exams without investing much time in studying - in fact I hated studying altogether. My intellectual abilities naturally positioned me as someone who will achieve success in the future, but this actually wasn't the case at all. It took me a long time to find my "niche" in life, and I am still on the journey toward success in my area of expertise.

Then there was a classmate of mine named Arthur. This guy wasn't naturally gifted on an intellectual level, but he worked really hard to achieve average symbols. He persevered and displayed tremendous work ethic and today he is successful in his career and in life. In my opinion the Arthur's of today are the unsung heroes because they beat the odds and earn the prize of success.

But what is success?

Success in my opinion is a relative term. It could mean becoming a millionaire to one individual or it could mean living comfortably within the surrounds of a happy family for someone else. But in terms of this article I will like to meaure success in terms of financial reward in the internet marketing industry.

Does your intellectual ability affect your level of success as an internet marketer?

Through my personal experience, observations, and interactions with other marketers I have found that intellectual ability increases the rate at which you can attain success. The intellectually gifted have an ability to absorb information faster; hence they are able to implement what they have learnt at a quicker rate in comparison to the person who struggles to learn quickly. But the ability to learn quickly isn't the deciding factor that contributes entirely to your success.

Application, Perseverance and Work Ethic

An above average intellect is a beneficial tool to anyone, but there are people who possess a greater measure of knowledge than many successful internet marketers but they have not applied what they know and taken appropriate action. They have not achieved because they refuse to put their hand to the plough. Application is another key that separates the successful marketer from someone who isn't an action person.

In addition, it is no use possessing all the intellect in the world if it is not coupled with perseverance and a good work ethic. Why? Because without these attributes success will be short-lived or it may never be attained at all. Perseverance is the ingredient that will elevate you above the obstacles when they confront you with force, and like my friend Arthur your work ethic will determine the end result regardless of your intellect.

It is these attributes that inject an attitude that keeps you committed to the cause. I do not know of one successful internet marketer who had an easy road toward financial success. But I do know of many marketers who quit when they faced a torrent of obstacles in this industry.

To conclude I would like to say that intellectual ability does not affect your level of success as an internet marketer. It certainly carries some advantages, but it is not the be-all and end-all. Your level of success as an internet marketer is dependent on your willingness to learn and apply what you've learnt, your work ethic and the lengths you are willing to go to attain success. Success is in your hands regardless of your intellectual abilities.
