BlackBerry Monaco Touch Ushers in a New Era For BB Phones

The Blackberry Monaco Touch will be the phone that will be finally ushering in a new era in the history of mobile phones from BlackBerry since it will be the first phone from Research in Motion to be coming as full-fledged touchscreen phone. Even though there have been some screen phones from the company, none can match the Blackberry Monaco Touch when it comes to sheer amount of features and the presence of a full touch screen display alone. Yes, there has been the BlackBerry Touch, but it was not a full-fledged touchscreen phone.

The Blackberry Monaco Touch will be coming with a touch screen display that measures a whopping 3.7 inches in size. This could arguably be the largest ever touchscreen display to have been used in a BlackBerry model and this does not stop the screen from having only the size as the main feature. Some of the other features in the screen include the likes of the capacitive technology and the optical trackpad. Yes, even though the phone has a touch screen display, BlackBerry seem reluctant to let go of the optical trackpad that has given incredible success to their phones over the years. The introduction of the accelerometer and proximity sensor into the touch screen display will also be improving the display even further.

The main reason for the BlackBerry phones not to be considered as an out and out entertainment phone has to be the internal memory. Previous BlackBerry phones were solely underequipped when it comes to the internal memory. This is something that has been put to bed in the Blackberry Monaco Touch due to the introduction of an internal memory that has a maximum capacity of 4 GB. This is in addition to the extra memory card support that is provided in the phone. It can support another 32 GB, which would bring the total memory of the Blackberry Monaco Touch to a whopping 36 GB, which would be sufficient for most of the entertainment activities currently available in mobile phones. It will be ranging from the need to take high quality images to the playing of high-definition movies.

The first part of it is taken care of by the five megapixel camera that has options like LED flash and image stabilisation. It would have been daft to think of such features from a BlackBerry phone a few years ago, but the changing scenario has meant that they are now being featured in a BlackBerry phone as well. The phone will be powered by a 1.2 GHz processor that is the star of the show. It is extremely powerful, despite the fact that it is a single core processor only. BlackBerry has been able to include the BlackBerry OS 6.1 into the Blackberry Monaco Touch due to this powerful processor. The Blackberry Monaco Touch's official launch date is yet available from BlackBerry, but it is expected to be launched in the spring of 2011. The prices also remain confidential.
