Safeguarding is a rather new term that is about the prevention of harm and cruelty to children. Its ideas are that prevention is much better than cure especially when it comes to children and their development. We want children to grow up in the best possible environments with the best possible experiences. This will allow children to grow up with the best possible start to life.
Safeguarding involves a number of methods and techniques used by different people who work with and have the opportunity to work closely with children.
One of the methods of safeguarding involves checking the backgrounds of people before they are allowed to work with children, this will help to eradicate possible threats to children. This is obviously not always full proof and doesn't allow for people who have never committed any crimes but still have it in them to do so. However safeguarding does aim to recognise early warning signs and prevent damaging situations affecting children.
Classroom Management is a management system used in schools and other learning establishments. Classroom Management is used by teachers and schools to provide structure and a clear plan to a learning environment. Classroom Management can involve a number of things as long as they are all thought of to help the class run as smoothly and as trouble free as possible.
Normally it is left to the teachers to come up with a classroom management plan as they know the class the best and they know what is best for the students. They recognise what works best with individual students and can integrate this into their plans. Sometimes a school will come up with a plan for all classes and all teachers to use, this will normally be done so that all lessons students will attend have the same structure and students will have a clear routine in every lesson that they attend.
With the majority of teachers leaving the profession in the first five years of the job it is clear that more needs to be done to prepare for the real teaching world. Teachers aren't prepared for what the job will really be like and because of this most of them leave feeling they cant cope and sometimes that they have even faced emotional abuse. Schools will have teacher training days that are aimed to keep teachers up to date with the most recent methods and techniques. This is also a chance for teachers to discuss any problems they may be having and hopefully where they can resolve them. Teachers will discuss the best methods they use and whether or not they may be helpful for others to use.
