Whether you stay in or go out with your partner really shouldn't matter. All too common nowadays relationships break up because of their partners wishes to stay in every weekend as opposed to going out. Having a boring other half isn't always the reason for splitting up but these days it is a more common reason.
Normally one member of the relationship feels trapped and caged. They want to go out and be a free spirit but the other half of the relationship is a bit of a home creature. They enjoy the four walls of their own home too much and crash the fun and spontaneity out of the relationship. This is normal for the man in the relationship.
When the more outgoing of the two cogs in the relationship comes to thinking, they realise that they want to go out more. Not to do anything untoward or unfaithful, but merely to enjoy themselves more. They think life is for living as oppose to waiting and enjoying your own company. This can be perceived however, generally by the man as an act of betrayal and disloyalty. This obviously leads to arguments throughout the relationship, and once on this slippery slope there really is only one way out.
A lot of relationships nowadays split up because of one or more of these reasons and once the arguments begin things only get worse. The hermit of the relationship really needs to expand his social life if he wants to keep the relationship going. Their social life tends to be a lot less active than their other halves and they depend on their partner for everything including their social activities.
The social member of the relationship however needs to cater to the needs of the other somewhat. They should encourage their partner to go out, but not be resentful if they don't want to. Relationships are of course about compromise and this is a prime example. To ensure that a healthy relationship can continue to be healthy then it's important that you both take into consideration the feelings of each other.
Overall there are many different reasons for the break ups of relationships, and no matter what people do, resentment will always be a key factor in a number of these break ups. But it goes down to the people in the relationship to do something about it. Be considerate of each others feelings and you will give yourself half a chance.
