4 Easy-To-Follow Tips to Better Putting

Putting is where golfers lose most of their strokes.....

BUT it is one of the simplest parts of the golf game.....and I've broken it down for you here. Read below and I guarantee you WILL improve your putting!

Putting is very simple, and the best putters in the world are so good because they keep it that way.....and guess what, YOU can do it too!

One of the vital fundamentals to being a great putter is standing over the ball relaxed and confident. Here are some helpful guidelines that will make you a better putter and ultimately lower your score:

1. Putting is very personal - a routine that is unique to you will allow you to become relaxed before each putt.

2. Make sure your tempo is the same, back and through (no matter how long the putt).

3. Picture two things: the distance you want the ball to travel and how far right or left the ball should start from the hole. The goal is to get the ball as close to the hole as possible, preventing the ever so frustrating 3-putt.

4. Make sure you keep your head down well after you hit the ball (this is the biggest secret to great putting - yes, it is that simple!). Some of the best putters of all time (Tiger Woods, Ben Crenshaw, Phil Mickleson) keep their head down until they hear the ball hit the hole, especially on short putts.

QUICK-FIX DRILL (to improve your Putting immediately): I'll leave you with a great drill that can be practiced on the putting green before you tee off. Put 3 balls 5 to 8 feet away from the hole and after you hit each putt, keep your eyes fixed on the spot where your ball was. You will see an outline of your ball where it was lying - if you don't see it then you are moving your head slightly or not focusing on the exact spot. Once it starts to disappear, lift your head and watch the ball go into the hole. You will be amazed at how much more consistent your putting will be. This holds especially true for putts under 5 feet.
