The thing is with Stress is that it affects every person in a different way; this is all to do with the cause and its effects. Thus, there are various types of stress as documented by research and clinical studies. It is essential for a person to identify the cause of stress so that they know how to handle it, and cut down stress levels. Furthermore, each type of stress has to be treated in numerous ways.

At the end of the day, there are three known kinds of stress: acute stress, episodic acute stress, and chronic stress. On the other hand, a fourth kind - psychological stress - is also becoming more widespread and is thought of as a genuine kind of stress.

Acute Stress: this is the most widespread form of stress, which is caused by the difficulties that you experience on a daily basis. In short burst, acute stress can in point of fact be useful to a person. Like an athlete that's just about to compete in an event. The athlete will experience acute stress, which will activate the production of adrenaline giving him a surge of energy that is needed for him to perform his best.

The signs for this kind of stress are easily detectable and mostly affect a person only for a short period of time. Common symptoms include sweaty palms, cold hands and feet, muscular tension, rapid heartbeat, headache.

Episodic Acute Stress: Like I said above, acute stress is fairly widespread. Nevertheless, there are some people who experience it more frequently than others. People like these are the kind who are so absorbed on attaining organization and yet constantly fall flat when it comes to performance. For that reason, they become short-tempered if not with themselves then with everything else around them. This is why they find the workplace a somewhat stressful environment.

People who keep worrying suffer from episodic stress also. They become so negative about their circumstances that they always think that something bad is going happen. Therefore, they end up in a dreadful mood, feeling all tense and anxious without having an apparent reason for feeling that way.

Chronic Stress: this is the kind of stress that wears you out. This type of stress builds up over time and can create long-standing effects on your well-being whether emotionally or physically. Most types of chronic stress are produced by trauma.

A big problem with chronic stress is that people often think that it is something that is inborn, and that they cannot ever get rid of it. Therefore, it makes treating this disorder hard because it is often overlooked by the person affected by it. It can, nevertheless, be treated through stress management methods and behavioral treatment.

Psychological stress: this type of stress involves more of a person's capability to react to a given situation (or you could say the loss of that ability to react). When you are in danger your body produces hormones known as adrenaline and cortisol that stimulates the body to react to the situation.

Liken this to charging a battery that creates high voltage that has to be discharged. In the case of a person experiencing psychological stress, the body cannot discharge that surge of energy that is created. The constant raise in heart rate and the production of adrenaline might produce fatal heart problems.

There are numerous explanations as to how a person gets psychological stress but it can include trauma experienced from an emotionally troubling event in the past or other emotional anxiety. The problem with people going through psychological stress is that they tend to encourage more stress in their lives by exposing themselves to stressful circumstances. Good Luck!
