I first met Dave Ruel and Karine Losier in the beginning of 2011. They seemed like really friendly people and, as I was already acquainted with Dave Ruel's nutrition writing, I was interested in what else I could learn from them.
Later, when they finished their work on their new program, the Metabolic Cooking recipe and nutrition plan, I was lucky to get an advance copy to let them know what I thought about it.
When I went over the program, I found that I learned a lot from this plan (you can read a review of it here: Metabolic Cooking review, pros and cons). I want to share some of the things this program taught me and, I hope, that you will learn good things from it as well.
1. Healthy food doesn't have to be tasteless - It's strange because I felt that I already knew this to be true before but I never knew to what extent. What I mean by that is that the recipes in Metabolic Cooking took me by surprise because I didn't know that healthy food could be so varied and rich in color, taste, and composition. These recipes just open your mind to new possibilities in your kitchen.
2. Fried food and sweet food is not always bad - The thing that you need to ask yourself is what oil are you using and what sweeteners you're using. For instance, some of the recipes in Metabolic Cooking have oil in them but they use coconut oil which is considered much healthier than regular oil.
In addition, many of the dishes are sweetened with Stevia, a natural sweetener which is considered much healthier than regular sugar. So, you don't need to give up taste for health and fat loss. Not at all.
3. Simplicity is possible - I'm not an avid cook myself. I often shy away from learning new recipes because I don't want to spend hours in the kitchen or work too hard. What Dave Ruel and Karine Losier showed is that cooking can be quick and simple. Even a no-cook like me can create great tasting food without having to work too hard.
I believe that Metabolic Cooking is a great plan for anyone who wants to lose weight and eat healthy.
