Buffalo Energy Audit Expert - Heat Gun
Buffalo Energy Audit Expert - Heat Gun

You can make a good inspection with an infrared heat gun about where your house if gaining heat during summer or where it's leaking it during winter and can be a great help for you when you are performing a Buffalo Home Energy Assessment in other words.

I advise you to begin your investigation from outside of the house as this will evenly give you a great idea about where the heat is leaking from the inside too. Make you sure you're closed all your doors and windows before even beginning. If you're doing the audit in winter you should leave the heater turned on and if you are doing it in summer you should turn on the air conditioner too. All you need to do is to go outside your house whether in a very hot summer day or a very cold winter day, point your infrared gun and shoot (well it doesn't shoot anything visual actually, it is just an infrared ray) and it will give you a detailed picture of where the winter precious heat is escaping to the outside, and where the annoying summer heat is leaking in from outside.

For optimum results and tracking draw a general aspect for the outside of your house including all the existing doors, windows and chimneys... just anything that you could see. Stand back for at least 12 feet and shoot your gun in different spots in order to determine the average base heat of your house. You should be looking for the coldest temperature during winter, or the warmest in summer when the electricity is running.

Next thing to do would be going inside and doing a thermal examination for the exterior walls, floor, and ceiling of each room. Then it is advisable if you take note of any temperatures that seem weird and different from the usual readings that you get and where these readings were found so that you can determine what is the reparation that should be considered in that room.

Then you are looking for thermal leaks on window glass, through poorly sealed light fixtures, around windows and doors, in cracks in plaster or drywall, or anywhere that could be touching an outside wall.

It makes a lot of sense to do your own mini-audit with your infrared heat gun first, and call the Buffalo Energy Audit Expert later. If you know where your thermal leaks are you will be able to correctly direct the assessment expert to the right spots and therefore save a great amount of time and effort. And if you are looking for the ideal energy audit expert that will help you solve your leakage problems for ever you should maybe give a call to the Hughesco company, they are a bunch of professionals that have done this job for years, and if you are the lazy type they can perform the audit on your behalf and tell you the outcomes and give you advises about the repairs or the upgrades that should be done.
