The Easiest Tutorial on Using TiVo to Record Your Favorite Shows

I know a few people who actually do. Well, they used to until they discovered the wonders of TiVo and their lives have changed for the better. TiVo automatically locates and digitally records all of your favorite shows, every time they're on. You'll never have to worry about missing on one of your shows ever again.

It lets you pick a television show or movie to record and watch whenever want. One of the cool things about it is that you can rewind live TV or even pause it. Everything is recorded to a hard drive which makes for easier navigation when trying to find one of multiple recordings. If the networks decide to change the programming times of a particular show, TiVo can record the show at the different time with no reprogramming.

You'll be using it to schedule what television programs you want recorded and when they will be on. You can program it to record an entire season if you like. Select the "TiVo" button to activate the "Season Pass" for the shows of your choice. There is even an option for you to choose a preference that records only new episodes and repeats, if you want.

You'll next use the TiVo's "Wish List" features which lets you find shows which fit your set criteria. Enter what kinds of search information you're looking for like your favorite actress and movies she is in. You can even set it to follow all of your sports teams. Basically, any program that matches the category you submit is recorded.

A great little feature is the online scheduling which lets you set a show to be recorded when you not at home and away from your televisions. Simply, log onto their website and choose the "online scheduling" section. Pick the shows you want to record by date or title.

You can also watch the show you recorded from any room you want after you connect multiple TiVo's through a shared home network. The "Multi-room Viewing" selection allows you to view the program on different televisions than the one it was recorded on.

Using your computer or laptop, you have the ability to transfer all of your recordings from a TiVo box to watch your programs on the go. TiVo's latest software feature, TiVoToGo, gives you the option to transfer recordings to your computer or a portable video player.

TiVo has some great security features in place which allows parents to place restrictions on what their children can watch using their "KidZone" option. It gives you options such as filtering and password protection that can put your mind at ease that your children are watching programs that meet your guidelines.

TiVo also lets you listen to digital music if you connect it to your computer. You'll be using your home network again to access your music library among a million other songs available on the Internet.
