The one phone that has been causing a lot of commotion in the mid-range smartphone segment has been the HTC Wildfire S. This is a phone that will be soon replacing the Wildfire, which is recognised to be the best mid-range smartphone currently available. This could be due to the entire features that this phone adopts run the high end cousins like the HTC Desire. It remains to be seen if the HTC Wildfire S will also be doing it, but initial reports suggest that the phone could be coming with features that are better than that.
The HTC Wildfire S will not be changing its screen size from the previous 3.2 inch version. However, it will be changing in the resolution that is present within this screen. From the initial 240 x 320 pixel resolution, it is going to be increased to a whopping 320 x 480 pixel resolution. This huge jump in the resolution is going to be extremely advantageous when it comes to displaying all the various colours that are now present in the webpages of today. The usage of the HTC Sense user interface will be lending a unique style to the phone in terms of the usability stakes, which is something that is most important than any other feature. In this regard, the Wildfire S will be better than any of its opposition due to the usage of the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system.
This is also a major shift from the Android 2.1 operating system that was initially present in the HTC Wildfire. The five megapixel camera, though, remains the same and it is carried over from the previous phone since it had no disadvantages by itself. The phone seems to be massively improved in terms of the speed. This is due to the increase in the processor from the 524 MHz unit to the 600 MHz unit that is currently employed. The powerful processor will not necessarily mean in reduced talk times and standby times. This will be taken care of by the 1230 mAh battery, which is slightly less from the previous HTC Wildfire, but it is going to provide more or less the same talk time and standby times. The talk times for the phone in the 2G mode is around seven hours, while it will be decreasing to around six hours in the 3G mode. The standby times are also equally brilliant at around 360 hours in the 2G mode.
The previous Wildfire came with some of the best features when it comes to social networking integration and this theme continues into the Wildfire S as well. There are plenty of social networking integration that is evident in the phone and this is certainly good thing keeping in touch with the changing times. The Wildfire S's exact release date has not been unveiled by HTC, although it is expected that it will be available from May onwards in the United Kingdom under contracts from Three network.
