A feeling of being lonely
A feeling of being lonely

Loneliness- one can describe it as a state of being sad while alone. According to Oxford dictionary loneliness means "being sad as one has no friends or company". It is a state when a person feels that everything around him is just fake and no one is there to help him out. It is a feeling that relationships, happiness and understanding are missing from one's life- a feeling of being all alone.

Many causes are there which tends to make a person feel lonely. Usually the root cause is the lack of mutual understanding and friendly relations. One feels as if the persons around him are not meaningful and no one is worth to talk about. Sometimes there can be some problems in one's life which make a person feel all alone, e.g, loss of a near or a dear one, family matters, divorce, loss in business etc. in these times of difficulties a person thinks that no one bothers about him and no one cares about him. Everyone experiences loneliness. Some humans are more socially accepted, some try to remain social but are rejected. Some others face the difficulty of even trying. Often it is seen that solitude is related with loneliness but it is not necessary. Solitude is the feeling of being alone where there is person's own choice. Solitude may sometimes make a person happy as one feels that he is relieved from stress and other tensions. Authors and writers are often found to resort to a state of solitude for the sake of creativity.

While we can say that adolescents and adults are often found to be reporting about loneliness, it is the old people who are more often found to be affected from loneliness. This can be because of the changing behaviour of their children towards them. It can serious effects on a person like it can cause heart ailments. Among the adolescents and adults the main cause can be the failure in examinations or the break up in relationships. Loneliness can occur in married relations where there is lack of harmony and mutual understanding between the two. Similarly a child can feel lonely when proper response is not given to him. He thinks that there is no carer for him. Adolescents are more prone to suffer from such things as they take everything seriously and this can often lead to their indulging in unlawful activities like drinking wine, smoking cigarettes etc.

Another reason can be the mutual understanding between family members, friends, colleagues etc. Often one thinks that the persons around him do not like his nature and that he is the worse lad ever born. But it's not like that. Everyone is having a different kind of nature which may or may not match with others. If ever one is confronted with such a situation he should keep a maintained relationship and both the parties need to compromise at one point. To overcome all this, one should enjoy life as much as possible, hang out with friends, have some gossips and try to accept whatever is there in luck stored for him.
