Do it yourself shed plans/ greenhouse

This article is dedicated to my friends up north or even further. Down south here we have a long growing season and, a greenhouse is nice but not necessary. You can have a growing season up north but it isn't nearly as long, as down here. Here is a wonderful solution, One near and dear to my heart, because I just love a greenhouse. When I was young and would spend my summers at my Aunts, she was a florist and had several large commercial green houses. I watched her work in her greenhouses, and I actually learned quite a bit.

Building a green house for your personal use is not only easy but I found it to be almost fun, especially when you stop and think about the goodness that will come out of the hothouse or greenhouse. One method, and agood one I might add,Is to build it from do it yourself shed plans. That is the method I used, see way at the bottom of page. This is not rocket science. It really is easy to build. My mother in law built her own, by herself. I built my first one at a size of 8 foot x 12 foot and it works fine for me. Using the do it yourself shed plans method pick yourself out a plan and frame it out. Now the way I built mine was I built the frame using the plans. All you need is a frame however you may want to wall in the north side, to help keep out the elements, especially that north wind in the winter.

You can cover your greenhouse with clear fibreglass or even glass but there is a cheaper way.

Next what I did is not the only way but it is probably the cheapest. What I did was to go to the local building supply and find a good thick roll of clear plastic sheeting. It was more than I needed and it did not cost that much It was fairly cheap. You will also need long thin strips of wood or plastic or whatever, about 4 inches wide or so. after you cover the frame with this plastic sheeting then you need to apply these strips on top of the plastic and secured to the framing this will secure the plastic and keep the wind from blowing and working the plastic off. The do it yourself shed plans is just simple shed plans and has many different plans to consider every shape and size.

Now at the very least you will want a water supply at the green house. A better option would be to build a water mister system overhead, which is nice but not necessary. You should have some ventilation and probably a fan. On mine I have a fan on one end and a vent on the other that way air can be pulled in and brought down thru the whole length of the greenhouse.Good luck I only hope you enjoy your greenhouse as much as I have enjoyed mine
