While out of the country on Spring Break we found ourselves in search of a party on St. Patrick's Day. Sure, finding outdoor activities like zip-lining at Wild Canyon in Cabo or snorkeling Baby Beach in Aruba and off-roading with Green Zebra Adventures in Puerto Vallarta is no problem, but finding out if we should pack our green feather boa left us with quite the challenge. We wanted to know was how all of the Spring Break locations would be celebrating this most green of days. Will they drink green beer like we do in Scottsdale? Do they pinch each other in Aruba if they're not wearing the sacred color? Here's what we found out:
In Aruba, the locals don't go all-out like we do in the States. Most visitors will bring their own fun and take it to the bar, drinking Irish Whiskey and Guinness at each stop. Some hotels have adapted to the correct way of life and are hosting parties with green lights but remember, it's not Boston so you may want to pack your food coloring or head to Kildares Irish Pub for a really great St. Patrick's day celebration.
Mexico is much the same as Aruba it's not exclusively celebrated but has adapted for the tourists. Just because it's not their first nature, don't think you won't have a great and green time! Cabo and Puerto Vallarta have many bars, clubs and hotels catering to those who love this holiday. Pub de la Chapu was the first Irish pub in Cabo and is ready to serve up some Irish beer and whiskey. Senor Greenberg's and Baja Junkie offer deals on green colored beer and authentic Irish food! There is no shortage of St. Patrick's day love in Puerto Vallarta either!! In Bucerias is a bar called Shamrock Pub and they love this holiday as much as anyone else!
So, though the entire community surrounding your spring break vacation may not love St. Patrick's day as much as we do in the US, there's definitely a way to celebrate in green style no matter which location you visit!
