Rodrick Rules," which would be based on the second book," is about Greg, his older brother Rodrick, and the school talent show.Based on the best-selling illustrated novel by Jeff Kinney, "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" chronicles the adventures of wise-cracking middle school student Greg Heffley, who must somehow survive the scariest time of anyone's life: middle school.

When last year's Diary of a Wimpy Kid raised over $75 million ( Total Lifetime Grosses Domestic: $64,003,625 + Foreign: $11,696,873 = Worldwide: $75,700,498 ) at the box office on a $15 million budget, it didn't take long for a sequel to be proclaimed. Even more so because Kinney's "Wimpy Kid" series has thus far sold 42 million books.

As Roger Ebert stated in Chicago Sun-Times: "it's nimble, bright and funny. It doesn't dumb down. It doesn't patronize. It knows something about human nature. It isn't as good as A Christmas Story, as few movies are, but it deserves a place in the same sentence." Unless you are an elementary school kid, you probably have forgotten all about it. Now, without attracting notice, there's a sequel coming, this one titled Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules.

The second live-action adaptation of Jeff Kinneys best-selling book has been set on March 25, 2011. Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules is a realistic fiction novel written by American author and cartoonist Jeff Kinney, the second book in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, and is preceded by Diary of a Wimpy Kid. The narrator of the book is Greg Heffley, and it reads like a journal. This book is being made into a movie as the sequel for the film. The cover mainly depicts Rodrick shoving Greg. I certainly know that the fans would like to see all the books made into movies," producer Brad Simpson said.

Unless you are an elementary schooler or happen to know one, you probably have forgotten all about Diary of a Wimpy Kid, the spring release from last year that managed to make $75 million worldwide off a $15 million budget, presumably by entertaining a lot of kids who loved the book series and didn't care that the rest of the world had never heard of it. Now, equally under the radar, there's a sequel coming, this one titled Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules.

I had no idea who Rodrick was before watching the new trailer that premiered today at Yahoo! Movies, but if you're curious, you can have the same learning experience I did by watching the trailer below.
