Motivation - 8 Tips on Overcoming The Challenges of Life

I imagined a smooth highway without potholes, without roadblocks, small almost impassable fords or bridges, twists and turns, highs and lows. It is the life I dreamt of where everyone would be getting along with everyone else without any conflict and the hard, sad reality hit me that having such a vision of how life should be can at best be attributed to exposure to too much television. Life is fact not fiction. There is no perfect script for life. A life without challenges is not worth living and that kind of life will not enable you to grow and it kills you.

I would like to expose eight truths that will change your view of the challenges you face.

1. Whatever challenge you face in life is temporary. It will come to pass in the fullness of time.

2. Realize that you are strong enough to handle whatever comes your way otherwise it wouldn't have come your way. It is to test your strength. It is in trials and temptations that your true strength and sagacity is revealed.

3. Some challenges you may face may be the work of an enemy working against all your efforts. Know that you do have enemies and they are good for you because they reveal strengths you never knew you had when they insist on destroying you and you get back right up again and overcome them.

4. Do not create permanent solutions and structures to deal with temporary problems because you may have to dismantle them when the problem is solved. Tough people will outlive tough situations.

5. Seek only the advice of people who have your best interests at heart. When you confide in a lot of people there is no longer anything confidential about that information.

6. Realize and know that your story is not yet complete, do not be quick to tell it. It will only attract sympathy and no solution. It may even create a state of hopelessness as others add their negative opinions to your already troubled mind.

7. Prayer changes things and does so permanently. Get into the place of prayer and make your supplication and God will remember you.

8. I now look back, with the benefit of hindsight, and clearly see that some of the toughest choices I had to make during the days of adversity are now the foundations upon which I am building a glorious future.

Resilience is only born out of exposure. Ask the bodybuilder and he will tell you that his strength comes from the ability to resist pain. The more pain he resists is the better he gets at what he does. The Apostle Paul got to a point where he could say "none of these things move me" because he had been tried, tempted, tested and certified as a true victor.
