When we all start out at skateboarding we ask our friends, family members and look at pros for help in learning all the tricks in the sport. In the Secrets of Skateboarding ebook each trick is explained in three stages, the pop, flick and then the landing. As the X games get more and more competitive, skaters sit glued to their seat looking at every trick the pros try making a mental note to try that trick later on. Pro skaters like Bam Margera, Tony Hawk, and of course Rodney Mullen have invented tons of awesome skateboarding tricks that hopeful skaters want to master for themselves.
This book contains some of the hardest tricks known to the skateboarding community and step by step explanations on how to land them. I would argue that this book is far better than most skateboarding trick videos out today. I can't tell you how many times I've watched trick videos that did help me at all figure out how to perform a trick other than to watch the skater do it in slow motion. Secrets of Skateboarding does better than that because it covers in detail every aspect of every trick.
It discusses proper foot placement, how to flip the board and rotate your feet, how to balance, how to prepare yourself before trying each trick, and how to turn properly for each trick. For every trick, the author discusses the common problems skaters deal with while trying to land that specific trick and the solutions on how to get through those problems.
I have watched and wanted to know how Rodney Mullen did gazelles, no handed 50-50 kickflips, double heelflips, the Ollie impossible, the 50-50 saran wrap trick, the 540 shove it, the Ollie fingerflip, and all the many more tricks that he has invented over the past four decades. He's my inspiration and I've always wanted something that really showed how to do his tricks step for step because he doesn't really talk about them.
The Secrets of Skateboarding ebook covers all of his tricks and a lot more from other professional skaters. I'm 26 and me and my son are absolutely thrilled when ever a new Rodney Mullen skateboarding video comes out and I put the video in slow motion for every trick he does. I finish this review by saying this is seriously a good book for any and all skaters who have becoming great at the sport on their list of things to accomplish.
