These nurses work under the supervision of their senior nurses known as LPN or Licensed Practical Nurse.In order to become a nursing assistant, you will need some training and then appear in an exam. These training classes are commonly known as nursing assistant classes. Few years back there was no need to attend these classes and they were trained on the job but now only certified nursing assistants get these jobs. There are many schools and colleges offering various programs for the training of nursing assistants. A standard program normally contains 11 modules. During your training you will also work in a ward so that you can polish your practical skills.If you cannot afford to pay the tuition fee for these schools you may also join nursing assistant classes online. There are several websites which will offer you these classes and they are much cheaper than the real colleges. These online CNA classes allow you to take your classes at home in the comfortable environment of your home and obtain cna certification. Another option for taking nursing assistant classes is to take your classes from a nursing home. These nursing homes will not charge you any fee but they will be signing a contract with you who will make you work only for that nursing home and nowhere else for a certain time duration.After completing your training, you will have to pass an exam to get your certification and after getting your certification you will be able to work. The certification exam will contain two sections. In the first section you will be given a written exam of 50 MCQs and for the second section of exam you will be taken to a ward to deal with certain situations. During your practical test you will be tested for your procedure, ability to work under stress and that how do you handle the work load.After getting the certification, there would be number of jobs and you can choose the one which suites you most. A certified nursing assistant may get a job in hospital, a nursing home or he/she may get hired to look after a patient at home. Normally, A certified nursing assistant works for 5 shifts every week with each shift of 8 hours and in case he/she gets hired for a home patient, he/she would be staying with the patient throughout day but in these cases they get paid more and get some special facilities like accommodation and food, it is not that if they get hired for the private patients or elderly citizen they will not get rest, it is just that during their rest hours they would have to stay at the premises so that they can be called if needed.
