My own journey has not always been smooth and I have battled the stigma of over three decades of restrictive dieting that took its toll on my health.

I used to believe that to lose weight and look slim and toned that you had to severely restrict your food intake. Existing on 1000-1200 calories each day had the effect of reducing my energy and strength levels. It was hard to get out of bed each day and hard to put any effort into an exercise program as well as a job as an aerobics instructor. I was frequently becoming sick and getting injured.

I was determined to find the secret to this weight loss thing that was eluding me. Information was starting to appear that suggested you had to "eat more to lose fat" and I gave it a go.

Although I wasted years of incorrect dieting and excessive amounts of exercise I learned what was really needed to get the results I so badly wanted. I discovered how to work with my body as opposed to it working against me as I had forced it to do.

The thing is, my journey is not unique to me, although the details may be different. Perhaps you have been through a similar struggle with your weight and health.

Unfortunately, yo yo dieting and other tricks and fads used to be considered quite normal back then and every magazine every week had a new diet to try. We all became victims of this unhealthy way to not only lose weight but to lead our lives. But I have learned the hard way what really does work and what does not work.

We no longer have to restrict food to lose weight and now know far better, easier and healthier ways to achieve weight loss if needed along with a vibrant, strong and energy filled life.

Our focus now is not on what calories are burned during an exercise session but on what is burned after the exercise session is completed. This is the key to weight loss and also for staying as young as possible for as long as possible.
