Bespoke Art for your home
Bespoke Art for your home

Sprinkle a little difference to your home. Have you ever wanted a unique, bespoke and artistic piece for your home, which does not cost you thousands? I would say "look no further", but you are already reading this article, so I guess I have your attention.

Arts of the Middle East' is a company I set up because I wanted to share my knowledge of the beauty of Eastern Art. I am a solicitor, whose daily life is based in the office so I thought why not set up a creative project, a platform where I and others can share Eastern Art. I have started with the ancient cini art of Iznik ceramics which started from the Ottoman Empire.

The evolution of the Iznik Art is fascinating; a number of influences were followed starting with simple patterns and white and blue colours developing into more complex shapes, colours and patterns. Modern day artists have even started mixing material together to create a piece of art which you can both touch and feel (www.artsofthemiddleeast.co.uk/pages/the-history-of-ceramic-designs).

I first saw the beauty of Iznik ceramic tiles during my first visit to Istanbul in December 2009. I was taken in with the colours used by the artist, Mustafa Kivrak, the detail and the material. I recall my feeling of absolute lust; I had to take a piece home with me (www.artsofthemiddleeast.co.uk/products/pomegranate-ornament).

My home felt like the hub of the Blue Mosque and the Topkapi palace (well nearly) with the pieces that I purchased so I thought why not share this beauty, and hence Art of the Middle East' was born, (it also gives me the excuse to travel and scour Turkey for gems!). The beauty of the art is that no two pieces are ever going to be same.

My intention with Arts of the Middle East is not just to create a platform where art pieces are sold; I want to create a community where travellers, writers, artists, art collectors and mainly art lovers can read and comment about Art.

I hope my readers, purchasers and contributors and I can travel the Eastern world together.

Join me in the journey of exploration through www.artsofthemiddleeast.co.uk.

Samira Ali, Founder of Arts of the Middle East.
